The effect of water on the viscosity behavior of polyacrylonitrile solutions was inves- tigated by a digital rotational viscometer. In the study, the zero-shear viscosity was used to describe the viscosity properties in order to exclude the effect of shear rate. From the study, the zero-shear viscosity of the polyacrylonitrile solution initially de- creases with the increase of water content, then increases when the water content is increased above 5 wt%. The phenomenon can be attributed to the competitive processes of polyacrylonitrile chains contraction and intermolecular aggregation. |
