Gasification is well known as an effective technology to produce gaseous fuel or syngas from coal1. With the development of modern coal gasification technologies, the large-scaled and high efficient entrained-flow coal gasification technology gradually becomes a key technology and has broad prospects of application. Due to its high operate temperature (1573-1973 K), entrained-flow coal gasifer may be able to handle various types of coal, petroleum coke and biomass. However, the gasification reactivity of different feed stock is still one of the important respects to be considered. The gasification reactivity of coals is essential because it is related to the efficiency of gasifiers. The principal reaction is the reaction of C with CO2 to produce CO and it usually used to reflect the gasification reactivity of coals. The gasification reactivity of coal is mainly influenced by coal rank, temperature and pressure2. The effect of coal rank on reactivity is significant at low temperature3. The knowledge on the gasification reactivity of different coals at high temperature, however, is limited. The objective of this study is to investigate the CO2-gasification reactivity of coals in different ranks at temperatures from 1473 K to 1673 K. |
