The thermal stability of mercury in Jincheng (JC) coal was studied with the on-line atomic fluorescence spectrometer system(TPD-AFS). An Attempt was made to identify the occurrence of the forms of mercury in JC coal according to its release profile with temperature. The mercury released at 200-300 oC may be associated with the sulphate type minerals (that can be leached by HCl). A part of mercury released at 300-600 oC may be associated with the pyrite type minerals (that can be leached by HNO3) and the other part should be associated with organic matters in JC coal. The Hg released at 900-1200 oC may associate with the silicate type minerals (that can be leached by HF). In general, the most of mercury in JC coal is associated with minerals and a small fraction of mercury is associated with organic matters in coal. |
