A facile synthesis approach has been developed to prepare SnO2/graphene nanocomposite. The as-prepared nanocomposite was investigated by X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscope, and thermogravimetric analysis. X-ray diffraction characteration confirmed the lattice structure of SnO2 nanoparticles. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscope observation revealed the uniform distribution of SnO2 nanoparticles on graphene nanosheets and intimate interactions between graphene and SnO2 nanoparticles. The electrochemical performance of the SnO2/graphene nanocomposite as anode material was measured by galvanostatic charge/discharge cycling. The as-prepared nanocomposite delivered a reversible capacity of 970 mAh/g in the first cycle and 639 mAh/g after 50 cycles at a current density of 50 mA/g, indicating excellent cycling performance. The nanocomposite also exhibited good rate capability. The electrochemical test results show that the as-prepared SnO2/graphene nanocomposite is a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries. |
