Soot formation has been observed in pulverized coal utilization processes, such as coal combustion and gasification.[1]The initial step of these processes is pyrolysis,which produces gases, char and tar. Coal tar, mainly consisting of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), is susceptible to secondary reactions at elevated temperatures, resulting in the formation of soot.
